Reader Henry send in this interesting stamp on the bottom of a vintage Revere Ware piece.
The S on the bottom marks the piece as a second, meaning, there was something wrong with it that it wasn’t up to the standard for sale as a new piece. But given the fact that a number of people have come across well-used pieces with that stamp, seconds were likely perfectly functional nonetheless.
hello,
I have heard that the new pieces displayed in stores were taken back to the plant, stamped with an “S”, and sold in the discount store.
Because, although they were new and there was nothing wrong with them, they were out of the box.
I have also heard that there were Revere Ware parties, like Tupperware parties. And again, any pieces that were not sold were taken back, stamped with an “S”, and sold in the discount store.
Hi, I found A11/2 qt. Revere ware sauce form Rome NY , it is stamped and in good shape. It has A large N stamp above the 1801 logo. What does the N mean?
