If you have a lid that the screw stud has broken off of (which can happen if it rusts), we’ve added some simple directions for repairing the lids and adding a screw. Revere Ware lid knobs use an 8-32 machine screw thread.

The knob on one of my lids had been getting loose, and tonight it finally fell off. It is probably about 50 years old (or more). There is a metal “post” sticking up that does not look like a screw. The knob seems to have come off because the “casing” that was holding the post in place has broken apart. There is also some rust around the base of the post thingy. What should I do to repair this? (I have photos but couldn’t manage to imbed them in this message.)
What you are probably seeing is the metal insert (with some Bakelite stuck on it) from the original knob. See this post for help with removing the old screw insert so you can screw a new knob on.
